OWBA Meet and Greet

Osgoode Ward Business Association hosted more than 100 local business owners from the Osgoode Ward at its first Meet & Greet event on September 15 at Orchard View Wedding and Event Centre.

Attendees were invited to network with other business owners upon arrival at the event before presentations by two guest speakers and OWBA President Gino Milito.

Guest speakers Chris Cope from the City of Ottawa and Ian Scott from Invest Ottawa both gave engaging presentations about the City’s planning activities and how they impact businesses in the Ward.

Milito provided an updated on the activities that the association has been involved with since OWBA officially launched almost a year ago. OWBA representatives have been present at many events all over the Ward to introduce the association to the business community.

After the presentations, there was an impressive buffet reception with plenty of opportunity to connect with others and ask questions. Existing members were also invited to pick up their framed membership certificates.

Membership in OWBA offers networking, marketing and promotion opportunities on the association website, on social media, and at events. But more than marketing, Milito explained the important advocacy service that the association also offers to members.

OWBA is proud to be a voice for Osgoode Ward business owners and is able to advocate for them on issues that impact their business. Milito gave various examples of how the association has already helped numerous local businesses, by acting as mediator with other associations, and by spearheading meetings to resolve conflicts with various levels of government on their behalf.

Membership is available for anyone who owns a business that is located in Osgoode Ward. Associate memberships are also available for businesses that are located outside of the Ward.

It is OWBA’s mandate to provide resources, information, advocacy and political support to all businesses in Osgoode Ward, while connecting them with each other and the rest of the City.
